Trump, Biden argue over who is the better golfer as debate descends into farce

The US presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump turned into a farce, with both momentarily engaging in a bragging contest over who is better at golf.
When asked to respond to voters who had concerns about his age, Trump used his skills on the field as an example of his physical fitness — and to take another jab at Biden.
“I am in very good health. I’ve won two regular club championships, not even senior, you’ve got to be pretty smart and hit the ball a long way and I do that,” Trump said.
Who won the first US presidential debate?
“He doesn’t. He can’t hit a ball 50 yards,” he followed up, referring to Biden.
“He challenged me to a golf match, he can’t hit a ball 50 yards. I think I’m in very good shape. I feel as fit as I was 25, 30 years ago, maybe a little lighter.”
“I would love to have a driving competition with him. I brought my handicap down to a six when I was vice president,” the current president replied.
“By the way, I told you before, I’ll be happy to play golf if you carry your own bag.”
Trump chimed in, unimpressed.
“This is the biggest lie, the sixth handicap,” he said.
“I’ve seen your swing, I know your swing.”
Although it was only a brief interlude in a 90-minute debate, the contest of who is better at golf epitomized a debate full of incomprehensible answers, lies and confusion.
