Although RxPass has been in the works for more than a year and is available in most US states, people who get Medicare couldn’t use the service before today. People on Medicaid still can’t use RxPass.

If you’re interested in RxPass as an option to potentially save money on prescription drugs, here’s what you need to know.
What is RxPass?
RxPass is a $5 per month subscription service for unlimited access to prescription drugs. Medications available through RxPass include more than 50 medications that treat a variety of health conditions, including high blood pressure, dementia, hair loss, menopause, mental health issues, skin conditions and more.
If you sign up for RxPass, you’ll pay an additional $5 per month for the service on top of yours Basic membership cost ($15 per month). You will then have unlimited access to available medicines at no extra cost, with free delivery.
Am I eligible for RxPass?
Before starting the Amazon RxPass signup process, it’s good to know what the joining requirements are:
- You must have an existing prescription for the medication. RxPass doesn’t help you get a prescription, so you must already have one from a doctor to transfer it to Amazon.
- You must have an Amazon Prime membership. Before you can sign up for RxPass, you must have Basic membership. Prime membership currently costs $15 per month or $139 per year. If you’re a student, you can get Prime for $7 a month or $69 a year.
- You must not receive Medicaid benefits. Although people on Medicare can now use the service, people with government-sponsored insurance, including Medicaid and CHIP cannot use the service at this time.
- You must live in an eligible state. Currently, RxPass cannot deliver drugs to California, Minnesota, Texas, or Washington. You can still buy medicine through Amazon Pharmacy in these countries.

How to sign up for RxPass
If you meet all the requirements, go to Amazon Pharmacy page for RxPass (via the Amazon website or app) on your computer, phone, or tablet. From there, you’ll see prompts to sign up for Amazon Prime if you don’t already have an account. How to add your medications to RxPass
Now that you’ve signed up for RxPass, you can start building your health profile. You will be asked what medications and vitamins you are currently taking, whether you have any allergies, and what your health problems are. You can also search for doctors who have prescribed medicines for you and add them to your profile.
From there, you can start adding medications and prescriptions to your account. You can transfer prescriptions to Amazon either by sharing instructions with your provider (Amazon offers electronic prescription information that you can copy) or by transferring from another pharmacy.
You can add a drug by searching for it in Amazon Pharmacy and searching Included with RxPass tag. Enter the name of the drug and select the form, strength, frequency and delivery.
Amazon will need to verify that all prescriptions are valid, so you may have to wait a little while before you can order anything.
How to cancel your RxPass subscription
You can easily cancel your RxPass subscription through Amazon and you’ll still be able to use it for the entire month you paid for. After the end of the month, you will not be charged again. Note, however, that if you purchase a 60-day supply of a drug with RxPass, your subscription cannot be canceled until your 60-day supply is complete. If you plan to just test RxPass, start with a shorter supply so you can opt out sooner rather than later.
Also, canceling your Prime subscription will automatically cancel your RxPass.
